Teenage singer Clara van Wel's single Where Do You Find Love is number one in New Zealand on the iTunes store website.
The bundle of three original songs written by the Blenheim schoolgirl were released on iTunes on Friday. The songs were recorded after she won the television show New Zealand's Got Talent.
Her father Alex van Wel said while they were pleased the single appeared to be selling well, they were waiting for the results from the Official New Zealand Music Chart when it was updated next week.
Sony publicist Taryn Kerr said sales were strong during the weekend and it would be a really big deal if Clara's songs made it into the Top 40 singles chart or the Top 20 New Zealand singles chart.
The chart is based on physical and digital singles sales from music retailers throughout the country, from Friday to Thursday and is updated at 5pm each Monday. Her single was released on Friday so was not on the chart updated yesterday.
However, she was the top-rated Kiwi artist on the iTunes site last night.
The CD of the same three singles goes on sale throughout the country tomorrow.
As well as Where Do You Find Love, the song Clara sang in the grand final, the digital bundle and CD includes acoustic recordings of Between The Lines and Lines You Traced, which she performed during earlier shows of the series.
More FM breakfast show host Glenn Kirby said there had been a great response from their listeners in Marlborough to Clara's song. He met Clara yesterday to record an interview that aired at 7.20am today as a preview to the CD release.
"She's cool," he said. "There has been a great response to her singles, and during the whole journey Blenheim has been right behind her."
Clara also features in this week's edition of women's magazine New Idea, where she talks about her experiences on Talent and her Sony recording deal.
